Change Management (vormals Leadership, Culture, and Change) (SoSe)


The aim of this course is to introduce students to the complex and intriguing field of change management theory and practice. Managing and responding to change has emerged as a crucial challenge for organizations and their members in today’s global economy. The requirement for organizational members to anticipate and react to change shapes organizational processes, culture, management and leadership styles, and employees’ experiences of work, career and identity. During the course, we will examine issues including change management, resistance to change, and the role of middle managers in the change process. The course will combine attention to theories of change management and to developing practical insights on change management ideas, techniques and practices as well as challenges through class discussions, case studies, and exercises.

Forschungsseminar - Applied Research in Organizational Behavior A (SoSe)


In this interactive seminar, small student teams will investigate an empirical research question on the effects of leadership on well-being and health using an experimental approach. They will expand an existing research paradigm to derive their own research question and hypotheses. The seminar requires students to participate actively in the conceptualization and implementation of a scenario-based online-survey and a laboratory experiment as well as the analysis of the obtained data. The results will be presented and discussed in the last session and will be summarized in a written report by the student teams.

Forschungsseminar - Applied Research in Organizational Behavior B (WiSe)


#diesejungenleute: Altersstereotype als Gegenstand forschenden Lernens

Im Januar 2018 berichteten eine Vielzahl jüngerer Politiker*innen auf Twitter unter dem Hashtag #diesejungenleute ihre Erfahrungen mit Altersdiskriminierung. Neben jüngeren Politiker*innen stehen auch jüngere Führungskräfte in Wirtschaftsunternehmen vor der Herausforderung einer systematischen negativen Verzerrung ihrer Wahrnehmung und Bewertung durch Dritte. Erste Forschungsbefunde deuten in der Tat auf negative Konsequenzen für jüngere Führungskräfte hin.

Mit dem innovativen Konzept Forschendes Lernen sollen Studierende dieser überaus aktuellen und für sie persönlich relevanten Problemstellung auf den Grund gehen und dabei gezielt eine forschende Haltung entwickeln.

Lerninhalt:

Studierende werden Forschungsfragen zum Zusammenhang von Stereotypen gegenüber jüngeren Führungskräften und ihrer Wahrnehmung als typische und effektive Führungskräfte untersuchen. Sie werden dabei aktiv und selbstständig den gesamten Prozess der Erstellung eines Forschungsartikels von der Identifikation einer Forschungsfrage bis zur Einreichung und anschließender Überarbeitung vollziehen. Eigene Forschungshypothesen sollen dabei mithilfe innovativer Experimentalstudien empirisch überprüft werden. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt auf der Diskussion der Forschungsergebnisse, der Präsentation sowie der Reflektion des gesamten Prozesses. Studierende erhalten so einen unmittelbaren Einblick in die Prozesse eines internationalen und interdisziplinären Forschungsprojekts.
